Daniel Roth Sport Automatic Steel Chronograph ref S247

We are happy to offer a beautiful chronograph by one of the most celebrated watchmakers of the last five decades, Daniel Roth!

Regarded as a master horologist, Daniel Roth’s illustrious career includes collaborations with prestigious high-end brands and the creation of timepieces featuring intricate technical complications. His iconic designs, such as the 8-day power reserve tourbillon and the Westminster Grande Sonnerie with four gongs, have left an enduring mark on the world of watchmaking.

Roth’s work is often compared to that of Abraham-Louis Breguet, whose innovations had a profound influence on him. After a successful tenure at Audemars Piguet, Roth joined Breguet as the technical-artistic director, playing a key role in revitalizing the brand. He introduced the iconic coin-edged, fluted cases and manually guilloché dials, which remain hallmarks of Breguet to this day.

In 1989, Roth established his own brand in Le Sentier, Switzerland’s watchmaking heartland, where he led a skilled team of artisans to create limited-edition timepieces. He selected movements from esteemed manufacturers like F. Piguet, Lemania, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, each meticulously modified and hand-finished with intricate decorations such as perlage, anglage, Côtes de Genève, and polished screws—executed entirely by hand.

This model features Roth’s signature double-ellipse case, a unique shape that is neither fully round nor rectangular, resulting in an elegantly balanced aesthetic. Measuring 38 x 38 mm, it sits comfortably on the wrist and slips easily under a cuff. Roth’s signature hands float above a black hand-engraved guilloché dial with a date window at 5 o’clock, along with silver text and Roman numerals. The timepiece is powered by an automatic movement, DR Cal 400 (based on a Zenith El Primero caliber), and is paired with our Bulang & Sons leather strap and a steel Daniel Roth folding buckle.

Our watchmaker has fully serviced the timepiece to ensure it’s in excellent working condition. The setting crown was replaced during this service.

Fun fact: Daniel Roth is now part of LVMH, and the brand plans to launch new models next year, all of which have already sold out. Positioned at the peak of luxury, Daniel Roth’s timepieces will start at around $150,000, with only a select few produced each year. We think these watches are pretty cool and still a bit under the radar!
